Pleasure Med
Pleasure Med, a cannabis-focused complex located on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, California, is a haven for indulgence with strong ties to its sister store, Pleasure Chest. The completely remodeled building includes three distinct areas: a ground floor retail section, a second-floor partaking lounge, and an outdoor bar and restaurant. The design of the retail and lounge areas in particular is inspired by the “faded glory” of Havana, Cuba, layering time-worn finishes with tropical opulence to evoke abundance and ease. A glass surrounded stairwell leads to the second-floor lounge that feels like a rambling colonial home with forgotten rooms to explore, a central courtyard-like space, and views of the Hollywood hills.

The main lounge is the darkest and most sophisticated room in the building. An oasis of green with rich parquet floors, brass-banded marble tables tops and walls lined with a plush, emerald-colored banquette with channel tufting and turned walnut legs.
The private dining room offers seating for 16 at inlayed walnut tables and rich green leather chairs. Lavish chandeliers of cut glass in a floral motif play against ornately patterned wallpaper of pink and deep scarlet.
With full-height wood shelving, glass cabinets and intricate displays, the retail floor resembles an apothecary in old Havana. Medium oak millwork with an aged finish sits over a diagonal checkerboard pattern of tumbled black and white marble tiles. In the center of the coffered ceiling of the main room, a two-tiered, beaded chandelier lords over the space.
The relaxed plant-infused environment of the diminutive outdoor seating area features materiality that combines white oak with cement tile tabletops in a mint-based tropical pattern and polished stone tops at the bar and high tables.
